The Nahargarh Fort was built in 1734 Maharaja Swai Jai Singh II the founder of Jaipur and extended in 1868 by Swai Ram Singh.Nahargarh fort is located in earlier capital city Amber on the rugged ridge of Aravali Hills and it forms an impressive northern backdrop of Jaipur.Along with AmberFort and JaiGarh Fort ,Nahargarh once formed a strong defence ring for the city.The fort was originally named Sudarshangarh,but it became known as NaharGarh which means 'abode of Tigers'.The Nahargarh was named after Bhomiaji Nahar Singh,a prince whose sprit ,it agreed to withdraw on condition that the fort would be named after him and a temple is also made in the compound of fort in his memory.
