कच्छ रणोत्सव 2014-15 सोमवार से आरंभ हो गया। कच्छ के सौंदर्य-हस्तकला को वैश्विक मंच देने वाले रणोत्सव के लिए सफेद रण में खास तंबू नगरी तैयार है। पहले दिन 350 से अधिक सैलानी पहुंचे। इसका औपचारिक शुभारंभ मुख्यमंत्री आनंदीबहन पटेल छह दिसंबर को करेंगी। सफेद रण देश की अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा (पाकिस्तान) से सटा हुआ है।
रणोत्सव में सैलानियों के लिए रणोत्सव के एडवन्चर टूरिज्म अन्तर्गत पॉवर हेन्ग ग्लाइडर, पैरामोटरिंग, पैरासेलिंग, डेजर्ट बाइकिंग जैसे साहसिक अनुभव के कार्यक्रमों की भी व्यवस्था की गई है। वहीं, माडंवी के समुद्री किनारे पर खाड़ी महोत्सव, कच्छ की झांकी दर्शाने वाले थीम पवेलियन, काला डूंगर (काला पर्वत) का पर्यटन, भारत पाकिस्तान के अन्तरराष्ट्रीय सीमा क्षेत्र की मुलाकात का रोमांचक अनुभव भी मिलेगा।
गौरतलब है कि पाकिस्तान की सीमा से लगे और गुजरात का रेगिस्तान कहे जाने वाले कच्छ जिले में हर वर्ष आयोजित होने वाले कच्छ रणोत्सव की समय सीमा बढा दी गई है। यह मेला पहले 13 दिनों के लिए आयोजित होता था, लेकिन पर्यटकों की बढ़ती तादाद के चलते इसकी अवधि 2 माह कर दी गई है।
